Have pathways a minimal significative size?

I am working on biological (specifically oncological) pathways and I would like to know if there is a minimal significative size for them.

I believe that the size threshold is mostly selected empirically, e.g. more than 10-20 genes. You can have a look at curated oncological pathway signatures at MSigDB (http://www.broadinstitute.org/gsea/msigdb/collections.jsp#C6) to make an impression of their size and composition
