Hi,

I am working with cytoscape3.1.0(windows 32bit). To work on huge network I need to increase cytoscape memory. According to cytoscape manual I tried to improve cytoscape memory to 4GB by changing the file "cytoscape.vmoptions" below line:

-Xmx4GB

The error massage is:

The JVM could not be started. The maximum heap size(-Xmx) might be too large.

I could gradually increase cytoscape memory until 1342MB which is not enough for me.

How can I improve cytoscape memory until 4GB, what is the problem?

PS: I use java 1.7 and runtime parameters: -Xmx7000M

Thanks in advance

you have to use the 64bit version to increase memory. 32bit version is max 4GB memory

you have to install the 64 version of the OS. But if you have 4GB or less of RAM it's not usefull to do it. how much RAM do you have ?

My RAM is 8GB

I guess I tried to install 64bit version but I could not run it on my computer. My computer did not accept it.
