Is there any source (URL) which can give me total number of coding genes in hg19 as well as mm9, I guess let us say human and mouse genomes? I could not find infor when I googled this info, perhaps I am missing something.
Thanks

Neil is right but the simplest thing is just the Ensembl coding gene count from both most recent assemblies (e.g. 20,805 human and 23,148 mouse)
If you go to the UCSC Genome Browser's Table Browser tool, you can get a listing of all genes (select "knownGene" for the "table" option). You can change the genome type to "mouse" to then select mm9 under "Assembly". Alternatively, if you want to just download a pre-compiled listing for hg19, try here.

What you may be missing is that there is not one definitive total number. Sounds silly, but there are good reasons for that.
You are right. My purpose is to draw a fig showing that these % of genes are affected.
