The Simpson lab of the Ontario Institute for Cancer Research (OICR) is seeking a software engineer specialized in bioinformatics. The International Cancer Genome Consortium has sequenced tumor samples from thousands of cancer patients. We are developing software to analyze this data. The successful applicant will be a key contributor to the project by creating robust software to rapidly access this unique dataset.

The primary responsibility of this position is to develop methods and software for finding and cataloguing mutations in very large cohorts of cancer patients. The focus will be on reconciling the output of various mutation detection pipelines to generate a unified list of mutations. As this project will require processing terabytes of data, strong programming skills are required. Prior experience working with high-throughput DNA sequencing data will be very beneficial.
