Hi there!

I have a quick and possibly dumb question on protein sequence alignment. I'm interested in the human protein CCDC150 and I'd like to see if it has homologous proteins in humans (paralogues?). Using STRING database I found that it gives you a list of homologues by selecting "homologues in STRING organisms" when you click on the "sphere" representing your protein. This list appears to be completely different from that I get from a blastp search in human organism. Any hints?

Thanks very much

I believe orthology is retrieved from the eggNOG database. They implement a more sophisticated approach rather than just running a BLAST search.
