Some of y'all may be aware of the drama around a certain shirt worn on a recent science media event. I don't want to talk about the merits or demerits of that shirt. But I will draw your attention to this new shirt design celebrating women's achievement in science. I am considering nominating Margaret Oakley Dayhoff for the shirt. I have written about her work before: Margaret Dayhoff, a founder of the field of bioinformatics. You can see her on Wikipedia

Reviewing my own post recently I was disappointed to see the site about her life has become 404. And I have no idea who maintained that. I'm sad to see her disappearing in the memory hole in this area. http://www.dayhoff.cc/

So 2 things: 1) Anyone want to split the nomination with me? I just want a Hawaiian shirt, the rest of the stuff in the nomination is up for splitting out. 2) Does anyone know who maintained that Dayhoff site? Can it be rescued and archived somewhere?

EDIT: I have a lead on finding the Dayhoff family from here. I hope to connect with them on this. Have contacted the ggstem team.

Wonderful idea! It seems the website was hacked and converted to some japanese spam site in 2012. You can still access the last working version from the internet archive.

I don't know who maintains it, but there is a website that keeps track of changes and create snapshots of websites through time called wayback machine.
