We seek a suitable candidate with interests in bioinformatics and genomics to contribute to bioinformatics services provided by New Zealand Genomics Ltd (NZGL) through Massey University Auckland (80%), and to take part in current Massey University led bioinformatics research (20%). You will have a post-graduate qualification in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Computer Science, or a related discipline with experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing data.

Position overview
The Institute of Natural and Mathematical Sciences is seeking a bioinformatics technician. You will be part of NZ Genomics Ltd multi-disciplinary team of technicians and researchers and as such you will be able to work on a multitude of interesting and cutting-edge projects. You will be based at Massey University's Albany campus, which is conveniently located on Auckland's North Shore. If you hold a post-graduate qualification in Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Computer Science or a related discipline and you have experience with the analysis of next-generation sequencing data, gene expression data, or similar areas, this job might be for you!
Applicants must be confident in working in a Linux environment and must be proficient in at least one of programming language (e.g. Python, Perl, Java, C or C++). Experience in the statistical language R and the analysis of high-throughput genomic data is advantageous (e.g. metagenomics, de novo genome assemblies, gene/transcriptome expression work, genome-wide association studies). Good communication and writing skills are essential.
