Hello,

Is there a tutorial somewhere in setting up your own RPS BLAST database and finding KOG and COGs in a given proteome?

The only way I know how to do it is through http://weizhong-lab.ucsd.edu/metagenomic-analysis/server/kog/ an online server with a 2011 rpsblast database. Is RPS BLAST obsolete now? Is there something that replaced this sort of analysis?

Thanks,

Adrian

Found COG and KOG databases here: ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/pub/mmdb/cdd/little_endian/

According to this: ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/pub/COG/COG2014/data/Readme.201502.txt there was a recent COG database release in December 2014.

Hello I had a similar question concerning the KOG database. Did you ever figure out your answer? I want to search for genes in KOG database but can't convert gene IDs to match the ones in the KOG database and the Weizhong lab website is no longer accessible.
