I am looking for jobs in Bioinformatics and have realised the need of the hour is NGS data analysis. I am a novice to NGS data analysis which makes it difficult for me to get a job.
With some expertise in JAVA programming language(Netbeans), R (beginner level) I wish to learn the NGS data analysis. I read some post regarding JAVA and NGS data analysis but I am still not clear and would appreciate any suggestions for the same. I use mac(unix) for all my programming.
My suggestion would be to contact Brian Bushnell. He's a legend in the SeqAnswers forum and has developed a Java based read aligner called BBmap.
My opinion is that Java is useful for reaching users with diverse OSs especially windows. On the negative side, many Java tools seem to be memory hogs and need some optimisation.
