sequencing through heterochromatin (e.g. with PacBio)

I have noticed that some people suggested they have been able to sequence through heterochromatin with PacBio. What's your experience? Could you point me to the relevant links/publications?

And second question, how one predicts these regions from the sequence only (without looking at the histone marks)?

On this blog post they discuss whole genome assembly, but there is a paragraph at the end discussing the Y chromosome, which in Drosophila is mostly heterochromatin. I don't know if it has been published, but you can download the data.
