Hi everyone,

I have been trying to access DAVID, tried it a couple of times in the past 2 months on my work & home computer, but it won't open. Anyone else facing the same problem?

I couldn't open the webpage on Chrome at all, in Safari I can at least access the home page but can't go any further.

FYI, I am doing a comparison on various gene set enrichment programs and wanted to include DAVID.

Update: I asked other people in my lab and even they cannot access it. At least not on the work computer. One of the colleagues tried opening it on 4G (just in case you know) on his cellphone, couldn't reach either.

The link is working for me. FYI, you can also test yourself here: http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com/http://david.abcc.ncifcrf.gov/

Try clearing cookies/history, it might help!

arnstrm I actually did that every time I couldn't get hold of the webpage. It is strange that I cannot access it on my work & home computer.

Works for me too just now. Be aware that DAVID has not been updated since 2010, according to the site.

Neilfws yes, I know that it is not updated. Part of the reason why I want to include DAVID in the comparison is to let people in my lab know how results differ when using other programs & when you use DAVID with and without proper background. Because DAVID has a easy-to-follow user interface and allows the user to skip uploading a proper background & use the whole genome instead, people in our wet lab use it quite frequently, and we want to warn them against using it, because without using a proper background the results could be misleading.

Kudos for informing others of the pitfalls of DAVID! I too can access it just fine. Have you tried it with and without being connected to VPN? This may be a local issue with your computers and/or network (university or maybe the city wide?). I'm not a network person, so just a guess. I would contact your IT support to ensure you do not have some sort of larger problem that is interfering with your connectivity. You could also contact the DAVID team to see if they have an issue on their end with connections coming from your area. Here is their email address since you can't connect to their site! bsherman@mail.nih.gov

alolex Thanks! I actually emailed him a couple of days before but haven't heard back. Thanks to Google, I could access the cached contact page.

It is really bothering me now because some people in our building (at Penn) can access it and some cannot.
