Updating the Bowtie2 to version 2.2.5

Hi ,

I have downloaded the latest version of bowtie2 2.2.5 into my linux system and later I compiled it using make option. Now when I ran the command bowtie2 --version, I get the following printed

/usr/bin/bowtie2-align version 2.1.0

Is the latest version 2.2.5 is installed or Am I missing something. Kindly guide me.

I have the same problem about upgrade to bowtie2 2.2.5 in ubuntu 14.04

I have bowtie2 2.2.4 and I want upgrade to 2.2.5

Could you solve that problem?

I think, you need to put the new bowtie in path. When you run just bowtie2, it runs the previously installed as its in the path

HI incub0x,

I uninstalled my older version and later downloaded the latest version (2.2.5) and installed it from the source code and it working perfectly fine for me now.

Bowtie2, from Ubuntu, can be installed with a

sudo apt-get install bowtie2

which have its advantages, such as the binaries are automatically included in the path, and updates are recognized and use to work seamless

I tried this before, but the old version, bowtie2 2.2.4 is the only that appear in my machine. But thank you very much for your advice
