I found the problem (it seems to be installing now):
sudo apt-get remove libgd-gd2-perl
sudo apt-get install libgd2-noxpm-dev
sudo perl -MCPAN -e 'install GD'
It's written this only affects Ubuntu 11.04 thou, not also 10.04
