In this capacity, the Head of Bioinformatics will identify and work closely with internal and external resources to determine how to most effectively support University researchers' needs for data processing and interpretation, especially Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS). The BBG will support researchers with data generated by labs within the University, by the University Genomics Resource Center, the New York Genome Center (NYGC), external core facilities, and public data sets such as The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). The Group will consult on experimental design and best usage of existing sequencing and related technologies, with emphasis on best practices for proper analytical requirements.

Working with software engineers and IT professionals within the Department of Information Technology, the Group will construct and implement analytical pipelines and tools designed for ultimate use by the University community, incorporating analytical methods and algorithms from current research as well as those developed internally on in conjunction with researchers.

The Group will function as liaison with the Bioinformatics department of the NYGC for the purpose of enabling communication related to service offerings, analytical capabilities and the shared implementation of analysis methods.

The Group will provide primary analysis service of data generated at the Genomics Resource Center, with that service integrated into the cost and delivery of those services by the Genomics Resource Center.

There is a certain irony in asking for experience with a pathway analysis tool that has not been updated for almost six years ;-)

Dear Lars,

Although DAVID hasn't been updated in a long time, it is still frequently used and cited, so we thought it was worth mentioning, especially because there are a large percentage of bioinformaticians who don't have access to commercial tools!

Thanks for your feedback,
Anthony

I know, i know - DAVID is the best known tool for the job. That being said, there are other freely available tools around that are up-to-date with respect to genome annotations :-)

It is very surprising that a place like Rockefeller does not provide a secure (HTTPS/SSL) careers website since applicants are expected to provide details of their working lives.

Hello,

Rockefeller does indeed provide a secure link for applications. The URL in this posting is actually just a link to the Staff Opportunities page, and doesn't collect any information. Once you click on the site, you are brought into the actual application, which does use HTTPS to protect any application data that is transmitted.

Best regards!
