For those who are on Google+, I'm sure you've noticed other Google+ users sometimes coming up in search results as Google has rolled out the "Search, plus your world" described in this Tuesdays Technology Review. I have found the results often useful with icons of Google+ users who use Biostar on top of the results.

I wondered two things: what are other bioinformaticians' experience with the Google+ search results and is there a listing of other bioinformaticians and Biostar users who are also on Google+ ?

It may be an idea to add a BioStar page on Google+ that people can +1 and add to their circles?

I have a bioinformatics circle, which is my second largest, behind my science circle, with just over 260 people in it? Not all are BioStar users, so having a BioStar page (and circle) would be useful for me :)

Does it matter if it does connect to a real person, say you? I'm not quite sure how a page works on Google+ exactly, but creating a page using the "Company, Institution or Organisation" option should be appropriate, shouldn't it?

Unfortunately I had to search manually for BioStar users! Perhaps people could mutually share their bioinformatics circles too? In case I missed any ;)

@Istvan Im not sure that you do need to connect to a real person, I think you just need to do it here: https://plus.google.com/pages/create

That seems like a good idea. Incidentally, did you have to search for Biostar users manually or did you have another means by which you added them?

I wonder who would be best to talk to about setting up a BioStar page? I wouldn't want to step on anyone's toes! I assume Istvan Albert?

Creating a page that does not connect to a real person is somewhat tricky. At least Google Plust that does not seem to offer the option of a community/buisness page. One would need to create a fake person and that is probably frowned upon.

Here's my publicly shared bioinformatics circle from awhile ago, but I like the idea of a biostar page.

Anyone can feel free to add to the circle and re-share it publicly...

Good question Ryan.

I have experienced groups like "Bioinformatics Share" or "Bioinformatics Core" are there and the presence of bioinformatics companies are increasing.

With features like Google+ hangout, we can now do a muti-collaborator video conference call which is very helpful. The Google+ search result however is not that useful to me in particular.

Thanks, Gjain, for the response. I found Bioinformatics Share, but do you have a link for Bioinformatics Core? There seems to be more than one.
