Does anyone know of links to the web usage statistics over time of the following major bioinformatics portals?
- The UCSC Genome Browser
- Ensembl
- Galaxy
- NCBI
- any others that I've left off this list
Many thanks, Casey

UCSC Genome Browser: http://genome.ucsc.edu/admin/stats/
I'd like to know the others also. NCBI has database stats, but the only usage stats I see are for PubMed: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Sitemap/Summary/statistics.html#GenomeStats
I asked Paul Flicek of Ensembl this same question a while back, and the number that sticks in my head is 5 million pageviews / month. Sorry, can't point to any definitive reference. For reasons I don't understand, people seem to keep this info under wraps...
EDIT: While we aren't in your list of "major portals" ;), I'll offer a couple other data points in case they're useful. BioGPS gets ~150,000 pageviews per month, and the Gene Wiki gets about five million pageviews per month.
Hi Casey,
Thanks to your question, a chart showing the number of jobs per month that have been run on Galaxy's main public server has been added to the Galaxy Statistics page!
You can check general web statistics at alexa.com.
Unfortunately, there are no specific statistics for subdomains available, only the main domain.
But you can compare the popularity of the pages in different countries, with usage statistics over time, as well as popular search queries and related pages.
Here is NCBI for example.

Thanks Trey, these are both great...(pubmed data for those interested is here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/About/tools/restable_stat_pubmeddata.html)
The link to the summary page (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/Sitemap/Summary/statistics.html#GenomeStats) is unfortunately broken. Does anyone know the current address or did they get rid of it?
