calculation of mean length with its standard deviation of transcriptome assembly

Hello everybody,

I want to know the mean length and standard deviation of a transcriptome assembly file, would you please help me out? I know the mean length calculation, my issue is its standard deviation. Thanks friends

What are you talking about? Mean and Stdev are functions of numbers. What kind of numbers do you have? If you can get the mean, then you can give the same numbers to the sd() function of several programming languages.

@karl.stamm I think that @sohra wanted to compute mean and standard deviation of the length of the sequences in the transcriptome assembly.

Thanks, I found the solution. I had a fasta assembly file.
