Hi All, when I execute TargetP using the test data provided in the tool, I receive the following error:
./targetp -P test/one.fsa
error as below:
open: can't stat file
apparent state: unit 3 named HOWIN_in
lately reading sequential formatted external IO
The output is as below:
### targetp v1.1 prediction results #####################
Number of query sequences: 1
Cleavage site predictions not incuded.
Using PLANT networks.
Name Len cTP mTP SP other Loc RC

I wonder if anyone of you has the same issue. Do let me know if there is any solution. Thanks in advance.
I've been having the exact same issue. I also have the same issue with the standalone package for signalp-3.0: open: can't stat file apparent state: unit 3 named input.how lately reading sequential formatted external IO error running HOW
These packages are both obtained from the same source, but I can't seem to find much help for these packages online.
I successfully run it in Ubuntu guest OS in my Windows 7 laptop even thought I still could not find the actual reason.
I've also had much the same error (plus the string
error running HOW
) from signalp-3.0 (from the same team) when running on our cluster. I believe this is a bug in the wrapper script for targetp and signalp which naively uses a predictable temporary folder, which leads to rival copies of the HOW binary clashing over access to the same temp file.Did anyone manage to resolve this issue? I successfully installed and ran the test data for Signal P. However, I am getting the same error as detailed in the original question when I run the test data for Target P. TIA.
