Hi guys,

I know blast and interproscan are two ways to annotate an uncharacterised protein(gene), However, I found blast is way too slow and interproscan can only output the domain information. Blast2Go is a commercial software that currently unavailable to us. Is there any other ways to do that ?

Thanks

Guys

cheers

Hello!

See the fillowing post in biostars.org

C: Classifying proteins as enzymes, GPCRs, ion channels, etc.

and all the messages inside. Geneontology is your probable choice.

http://www.geneontology.org

If you are sure that your protein is prokaryotic one, you may try Rast:

http://rast.nmpdr.org/

It's free, but you will need to register.

Good luck!
