I blasted my gene of interest using blastn of default settings , I got result of mRNA for that gene which i used to blast . That is the only hit I got. So does it mean the gene is unique ? Pls suggest me any other validation technique for whether to prove or disprove the gene is unique.

And when another species has a gene that is 95% similar, is it still unique?

gene must be present only one species not belongs to other species, then only we call the gene as unique to that corresponding species.literally we can't find evolutionary lineage for that gene r8?.

A gene is not a functional unit, it consists of domains and smaller: sequences. There is no such thing as unique.
