I have a list of ABI microarray probes with "signal values". How can I tell if it's been background corrected?

Hello,

I'm working with the supplementary raw data downloaded from GSE28551. It's unclear what each column in this supplementary file means, I unfortunately can't reach the original author/database point of contact, and since the product has been discontinued, I haven't had much luck getting information about the original file processing.

I'm trying to figure out if one data column, "Signal", has already been background corrected, so that all I would need to do next is apply quantile normalization.

Is there a way I could tell if this data has already been background corrected by plotting it?

Thank you for your help!

The column names, for the curious:

  • Probe_ID
  • Signal
  • SDEV
  • Flags
  • S_N
  • Sample_name
  • Assay_Normalized_Signal
  • CV
  • probe_type
