Dear all,
I installed Bio-Linux 8 (based on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS) under VirtualBox 5.0.16 on a Mac OS X 10.9.5 machine. The default user is called manager
. The problem is that whenever I need root privileges the system asks for a password for manager
(which I never set). Using default passwords as password
, Password
, Ubuntu
and similar does not help (not even leaving the field blank, or trying my Mac user password). Also, several procedures I found on the web require root privileges, so it is a vicious circle. Any suggestion?
As Bio-Linux is an exquisitely bioinformatics-devoted Linux distro, I hope this question is pertinent here; however feel free to close if not.
Hi torvilleg14, welcome. Actually this would not work, as in Bio-Linux 8 I was not asked to set any password. Really one should rely on a default password (which in this case is
manager
), thanks anyway!
