Hi,

If you are hired as a bioinformatics analyst on a project,

1) Does it mean the employment will end when the project ends?

2) How is the analyst position different from a technician? Will you be an author on journal articles, if you did some analysis?

3) What kind of things are you allowed to do in the project and what are you not allowed to do?

Anything else to know about the job description of bioinformatics analyst?

Cheers,

What I am saying is not qualified as an answer, so the comment..

  1. If the position is in academia (research center/lab), the employment may end, when the project ends. Most of the time, project will be extended, so the position will also be. OR If the position is in industry, employment might be continued until you are willing to leave.

  2. How is the analyst position different from a technician? - This entirely depends on the position advertised. If your contribution is significant for the work/project that is going to be published, people must give authership (but we can't say whether you get authership or not as we do not know who you are working with).

  3. Obviously the tasks assigned to you. You can also propose ideas that uses minimal resources giving significant outcomes. But before implementing your ideas, better discuss those with other people in the project.

Anything else to know about the job description of bioinformatics analyst? - Ask the person who advertised the position.

I'd imagine the answers are very job-dependent so you should probably ask the person advertising the position.
