I am wondering if there is any database which lists genes highly expressed in various cancers based on literature and experimental data.
Try Open Targets. Through its Platform you will be able to search for the disease (e.g. ovarian carcinoma) and find the genes (potential targets for drugs) associated with it. We've got the genes sorted by different classes including Somatic mutations, RNA expression and text mining. If you sort by RNA expression for example, GJA1 will come up highly in the list and you can focus on that gene to find out what other Evidence for GJA1 in ovarian carcinoma we've got in there. This is available for download as compressed JSON files and through the REST services (this is our API documentation).
