We are currently recruiting a software developer / bioinformatician with expertise in natural language processing and machine learning.

What you'll do
You'll be responsible for implementing and improving software to perform large scale biomedical text mining. Your work will be used in our internal drug repurposing pipelines and also tools we make available for use by the rare disease research community.
Your initial focus will be on identifying biological entities and relationships in text, incorporating appropriate machine learning techniques. You'll also work on algorithms to analyse the resulting knowledge graph for use in our drug repurposing analysis. You will investigate the application of cutting-edge technologies and be encouraged to keep up with current research in the field.
You'll join a small team of developers with existing experience in bioinformatics, cheminformatics, machine learning and software engineering. As an early employee in an ambitious, growing startup company you'll be able to make a significant contribution to our technical direction.
What we're looking for
We're looking for a talented developer who is able to use their existing experience in NLP to help solve problems that really matter.
The ideal candidate shall:
- be educated to at least degree level (or equivalent) in computer science, bioinformatics or related discipline
- have significant experience in natural language processing
- have a solid understanding of machine learning approaches
- ideally have experience applying NLP to biomedical text mining
- have significant programming experience, ideally in Python
- be flexible, proactive and be able to implement practical solutions rapidly
We're looking for someone who can work independently and contribute novel ideas to help improve our analysis.
