How to download the NCBI NR database in genbank format

I want to get an evolutionary analysis by using NCBI NR database and Uniport database. But NR database has only blastdb and fasta format in which I can not find the taxon information. How can I get the NCBI NR database in genbank format.Thanks.

Just download nr, taxdb and read the manual..

NCBI does not provide the NR database in GenBank format.

Alternatively, you could try the NCBI taxonomy database:

ftp://ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pub/taxonomy/

The taxdump.* are taxonomy database dumps and the detail introduction is available at: ftp://ftp.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pub/taxonomy/taxdump_readme.txt.

The accession2taxid folder provided the Accession number - taxonomy id relationships. You might also be interested in the gi_taxid_* files, which provide GI - taxonomy id relationship. But GenBank will not support GI soon.
