Where do you cite R packages such as ggmap in a manuscript?

I am working on a manuscript where none of my analyses were actually done in R, but I used R to make a map figure (using ggmap) and I plotted results generated by other programs using R (some using ggplot2, some using basic functions within R).

In my methods section, I've dropped in sentences at the end of relevant sections basically stating that R (and ggplot2) was used to plot the results; however, my map figure is currently being introduced in the methods (and may end up getting moved into the intro). I am not quite sure where I would include that the map figure was generated with ggmap.

Any advice?

Sorry I don't have a direct solution. I typically search for such keywords eg ggmap or ggplot2 in pubmed central. It will give a list of papers mentioning them and from that the citation used can be obtained.

I think my question is getting is getting misunderstood. I am not asking where to get the citation. I am asking where within the manuscript would it be appropriate to put the in-text parenthetical citation saying the figure was generated using ggmap?

How about the figure legend, if you can't include it in methods?

Here's the citation information from CRAN.

Edit: In general, if there's something to cite it'll be mentioned in the package vignette or on CRAN/bioconductor. If there's nothing there, just provide a link.
