Hi everyone,

Good day!

I think Biostars needs options to custom search based on sections etc or narrow by tags.

I am not aware of such a function here.

Yes, I have tried site:https://www.biostars.org/t/<Section> "keywords" on google and it somewhat helps. But, need it to be easy like the live search function which is excellent.

Best solution at this time is to search using google and restrict your search to biostars.org.

Other option is to search biostars locally
with this type of URL: https://www.biostars.org/local/search/page/?q=bwa+bowtie2 (add search terms at the end, example here uses bwa and bowtie2)

the laziest way to do this is of course rather than live search being global in every section, it should give results pertaining to that section ;-)

We need someone to look into ElasticSearch index building. Basically that needs a schema that I can apply and then searches can be augumented with various classifiers such as [tag] [autor] etc.

I have been meaning to investigate this for a while but it just keeps getting postponed:

Notably this is independent of Biostars as a site - the schema building would be an Elastic search related functionality.

Yes, that would be more helpful, it should be similar to bioconductor page ( https://support.bioconductor.org/ )
