I would like recommendations on current and timely research articles that I can present as part of a PhD qualifying examination. Ideally, it would be a fundamental advancement in bioinformatics. With that said, it would necessarily be cohesive, broadly applicable, and of interest to non-specialist given its foundational nature. As for myself, my background is in algorithms and theory of computation moreso than bioinformatics. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Fundamental advancement
is going to be relative since everyone may have different ideas about it based on their expertise/perspective. Consider Kallisto and Salmon.
