How to build a family ID?

Hello. I want to do Plink and I need to make ped my first family ID in Linux file creation. How to build a family ID?

The family ID is just a value/string in the first field of the .ped file, which is the same for every member of that family. Say that you have a small dataset with a family with father, mother, son, daugher, their dog (adopted) and furthermore unrelated 2 neighbours with their wife your first two fields could look like:

FAM1 father
FAM1 mother
FAM1 son
FAM1 daughter
FAM2 dog
FAM3 neighbour1m
FAM3 neighbour1f
FAM4 neighbour2m
FAM4 neighbour2f

My data only includes parents. What should I do to continue?

My data only includes parents.

I'm not sure that I understood that correctly. If nobody in your dataset is genetically related everyone will have his own family ID. It's most convenient to have that family ID be the same as the individual ID, as you don't have to generate new names.
