Accession numbers in uniprot are string of the form Q3TET3 or O043566 or A0A0P7VRI8. I was wondering how the accession numbers of the form A0A0P7VRI8 differ from the other two?

Thanks Neilfws for the correct answer. Just adding a link to the UniProt entry view user manual for accession numbers: http://www.uniprot.org/help/accession_numbers

Please don't hesitate to contact the UniProt helpdesk with future questions. We try to monitor biostars but might miss some threads....

They have 4 more characters :)

The longer answer: All UniProt accessions used to be 6 characters, but they used all of those up and so introduced a new 10-character format.
