Databiology is a fast-growing software company looking to increase our team. We are seeking a bioinformatician to be the scientific and technical liaison between our development team and our external customers and partners, working with them to implement their pipelines and applications on our platform.
Responsibilities:
- Research, integrate, and test new bioinformatics applications in Databiology
- Teach new customers how to use our platform and use it to realise their own use cases
- Work directly with customers to assess their scientific and bioinformatics needs, providing support and leadership to ensure successful integration with our platform
- Advance our relationships with scientific and technical users and grow our active user base
- Provide customer insights and recommendations to help direct our technology development roadmap
Required Qualifications:
- MS / PhD in in bioinformatics, computational biology, systems biology, biophysics, computer science, or related discipline with a computational emphasis. BS considered with relevant experience
- 2+ years in computational biology or directly related experience
- Good working knowledge of genomic concepts, data types, and data analysis methods, and their representation in software systems
- Pipeline development experience in sequencing analysis or genotyping, Linux or Shell scripting
- Experience in Python, Bash, R and other relevant languages required
- Good communication skills in English, both oral and written. Candidates should be capable of presenting technical information and data to non-experts in a clear and concise manner
- Demonstrated work experience managing projects with minimal supervision
- Available for occasional travel
- Valid UK work visa
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a virtualised computing environment (cloud, Docker) highly desirable
- Experience in a dynamic start-up or high growth environment
Location: Based in the UK, preferably in the southwest. We offer a flexible working environment with limited need for in-office presence in Oxford, so your home location does not matter.
