How to convert xml file to txt file

I downloaded some clinical data from gdc, which is xml file. I would like to know how to convert xml file to txt file. Thanks in advance.

I thought that was a legit question, as we all deal with TCGA clinical data. We have to know how to parse XML to text, so as to get patients data in a text format. It would be helpful of you to keep the post.
