According to PLINK documentation, the flag "--standard-beta" used for linear regression analysis normalizes all predictors, including the genotype. While I understand the reason behind normalizing the phenotype (such as for comparison with associations of other phenotypes measured at a different scale), I cannot see the rationale behind normalizing the genotype. And I cannot find any information about it. Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks.

For what it's worth, genotype normalization in this context is being removed in PLINK 2.0; standard-beta will only normalize covariates and quantitative phenotypes.
