Survey: What colour theme do you use in your terminal?

In my pet project, ASCIIGenome a genome browser for terminals, I would like to support more colour themes. To make ASCIIGenome match your preferences, I would like to get an idea of what colors you guys typically choose for your terminals.

It would be great if you could post here either a description of your color theme (like "straight black-on-white") or a link to a default theme or a just post a screenshot.

I'll kick off giving mine: I use MacOS basic theme, black on white, no transparency. It looks like this:

I prefer white-on-black or dark solarized colourschemes for my editors/shells usually, versus black-on-white. I find its easier to stare at for long periods of time. I'll play with the LSCOLORS variable though to tune what my directories and filetypes look like.

For instance, I use the Atom editor quite often, and prefer the darker themes like so (it's not quite what I'd call solarized, but you get the point):

Thank you. Yes, I'm under the impression that the dark background, whether black or solarised, is more popular than the light one.

I bet only with younger folks .. who still have good eyes :)

I even convert the html from incoming emails to get a black background and white text. Feels less tiring to my young eyes!

Hi Dario,

This looks very impressive and useful.

Features that might be useful:

• User profile settings: Give user to choose their choice of their themes
• Another thing I would like to have is the facility for monospaced fonts like Courier or Courier New. That would help to view alignments better
• May be use some default themes that come with editors like:
  • Classic: classic color scheme
  • Cobalt: Blue based color scheme
  • Tango
  • Rdark

These are just few things that I find it useful to customize for the terminal based genome browser.

Hi- Thanks for your feedback! With the version I uploaded just today, 1.3.0, the user can choose one of the three built-in themes or upload a configuration of their choice through a file based on these templates.

About font, ASCIIGenome simply uses the font you run on your terminal so you can choose the one you prefer using your terminal's settings.

About supporting more themes, I'm wary of maintain more themes than necessary. For this reason my survey aims at picking just those that people actually use.
