Hello,

I have a long list of genes, but too short for a reasonable gene ontology analysis. I am looking for genes that have been associated with the hippocampus, and references/citations to prove it. http://amigo.geneontology.org/ is close to what I want, but I have no way of knowing which genes are associated with the hippocampus with this website.

Right now, I am using Google Scholar, which is very very slow as I have to thoroughly read each article so I can only really do about 15 genes per day.

Is there some web tool that can make associating genes with organs, providing literature references easier/faster?

Have you looked at the Allen Brain Atlas for the candidate genes and their association with brain regions? Ingenuity Pathway Analysis probably will have this information readily available but it requires a subscription.

I would also recommend Brain Atlas. You can take a quick look at human genes that are expressed in hippocampal formation. From the homepage, select Human brain, then Differential search. In the target structure field select hippocampal formation and in the contrast stucture select the brain. You can also download files containing all normalized microarray expression values.

I'm sorry, I should have clarified, I meant known function, rather than expression. For example, a gene is normally not expressed in an organ, but only under some rare condition will express. Does this make sense?
