In alot of papers that used distance based method to construct phylogenetic tree .. I observed they used standard deviation as a comparison metric between distance matrices .... and also the lowest standard deviation of matrix is better result ... can anyone tell me what standard deviation mean according to distance matrix of phyogenetic tree??
...standard deviation measures the difference of intra-groups and between groups, and between group/ intra-groups the higher the better.
I used it to compare between distance matrices .... but it is increase ... Are you sure increasing is better ?? or decreasing ??
If you used distance matrices, you can just consider about the distance. SD is used in some Clustering Algorithms such as kmeans. Same as SD, inter-groups' distance need to be bigger than intra-groups', hence you can divide into one group.
Please i need your help about your reply .... Can you give me more explanation or details about it ?? Deeply ... about increasing standard deviation according to phylogenetic tree (distance based method).
