The laboratory of Dr. Faryabi at the Institute of Biomedical Informatics of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Bioinformatician. A qualified candidate will be strongly motivated individual with interest in and proven record of applied bioinformatics. Exceptional recent graduates who are looking for 2 years research experience before applying for medical school would be considered.

The primary research focus of the Faryabi Lab is on developing novel computational methods to explore the role of epigenome dysregulation in cancer. In addition the position provides collaborative opportunities with both basic and translational scientists across the Perelman School of Medicine and Center for Personalized Medicine [https://goo.gl/9dkajb].

The ideal candidate will have a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in statistics, bioinformatics, biostatistics, computer science, electrical engineering, or physics. Experience in programming languages such as R, Python, Java; and proficiency in Linux are required. Experience in high-dimensional genomic analysis i.e. development of next-generation sequencing data analysis tools and pipelines is preferred. Familiarity with epigenomics is a plus. The primary research focus of the Faryabi lab will be on developing novel computational methods for the integration of high-dimensional genomics data sets within the context of cancer epigenomics.
