The University of Adelaide's Robinson Research Institute Cerebral Palsy Research Group is seeking to appoint a Bioinformatician to investigate the genetics of Cerebral Palsy

The Australian Collaborative Cerebral Palsy Research Group are world leaders in the investigation of the contribution genetics is to the causation of Cerebral Palsy. The Group is focussed on uncovering the causes of Cerebral Palsy, particularly the genetic causes. The Group has the largest repository of transcriptome, whole-genome and whole-exome sequencing data from people living with Cerebral Palsy in the world.

The Group is seeking to appoint a suitable qualified researcher to investigate the genetics of Cerebral Palsy. This is a relatively unexplored aspect of Cerebral Palsy biology and will primarily involve analysis of massively parallel sequencing data for rare pathogenic variant discoveries but also gene association and variant burden analysis.

Salary: (Level A) $83,307 - $89,425 or (Level B) $94,135 - $111,788 per annum, dependent on experience.

Superannuation: An employer contribution of 17% may apply.

Term of position: This fixed-term contract is available immediately until 31/12/2018.

Position requirements

To be successful you should have:

  • PhD or nearing completion of PhD
  • Experience with analysis of massively parallel sequence data
  • Strong publishing record in the fields of bioinformatics, statistics or computer science
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Competency in the use of computer software and programming languages
