How to find and download the Database from a particular gene in NCBI

I am interested in mapping some mRNA reads on a particular gene from community samples to compare the expression levels between samples. There is apparently a method that you can use with the NCBI database, specifically by downloading the whole database of that particular gene.Could you please elucidate as to how that can be done? Thank you.

What do you mean by that? A particular gene from many species? How are you planning to map mRNA reads to such a set?

Sounds like the OP is maybe referring to metagenomics?

That's not what I initially made of it, but given that it's all a bit vague everything is possible.
