Hello,

I am trying to run Tmev software on my PC (Windows 7) but it doesn't work. When I try to launch TMEV in Windows (by double clicking in the file Tmev.bat), a black window opens and closes again very quickly. I already download the last version of Java (and Java 3D), and I tried to download TMev on the desktop but it still dosen't work ... Can somebody help me ? Thanks, Elodie

open Tmev.bat with a text editor (textpad) and add ' /k ' after 'cmd'. It should prevent the window to close. Then, tell use what is the message that will be displayed

(you will need to right click the tmev.bat to edit it) or alternatively open a Command Prompt, navigate to the folder that the program is located in, run the tmev.bat in the command prompt and report the error it prints out

I have a Windows 7 64Bit VM and just installed Java SDK 6 (fresh install) and latest version of MeV and everything went fine. You should try something to check your error:

  1. start the command prompt
  2. change the directory to where you have TMeV
  3. Run TMeV.bat from there
  4. Paste the output from the screen here and we will try to help you.

The other answers and comments have it covered, but just to be clear: your problem is that double-clicking on the file is not the correct way to run this type of program (a .bat file).

You need to open a command prompt, use "CD" to get into the correct directory and run the program from there by typing its name.

Hi,

I had the same problem... It was fixed by re-installing java JRE

I don't need to run the TMEV.bat file from the prompt, I just klick it.

[Windows 7, TMeV 4.6, Java SE Runtime Environment 6u21]

Best regards,
genecleaner

Hi
I also had the same problem but used the suggestion from Genecleaner. I reinstalled/updated my Java JRE using the link suggested and installed the version called jdk-6u23-windows-x64. Then I could open MeV without any problems. Easy and fast way to fix it for me (who don't know that much about computers).
