Converting transcript expression to gene expression

I am trying to convert transcript expression to gene expression. If I take mean, the results are skewed due to some low expressing transcripts.

Can you be a bit specific about it? If you are trying to summarize transcript to gene level for the expression from RNA-Seq then use tximport. Most of the pseudo aligners and quantification tools like Salmon/Kallisto have it employed as well. Taking mean is not the correct way.
