Will the installed programs be deleted when I uninstalled Windows subsystem?

I am a new fish learning bioinformatics along with the biostar handbook, I have installed the bash on windows and some programs on the subsystem. I found there are some problems I didn't notice from scratch. Now I would like to uninstall the subsystem, however I am not sure if this could also delete all the programs installed. That is to say, just come back to 0, like nothing happened?

Thanks!

Try it (some directions on how here) and let us know. If you had made a separate directory to install some of the programs you may have to manually delete it.

In general, you'd want to do a full reset on everything. Otherwise, it is not clear what effect a partial removal would have. It may cause all kinds of new trouble.

Thankfully the install is well documented - but I agree that it has a bit too many steps.

That being said the conda based installation as presented in the Handbook is much much easier than what a typical process used to be as little as two years ago where everything had to be compiled from scratch.

Do you mean that I only need to set up the computer from scratch without the need to remove the previous subsystem and softwares?

I am not sure what you mean by "set up from scratch". This terminology typically means a complete reinstall after wiping off all new information.

As to my answer, what I meant is that you'd have to remove the Linux subsystem then reinstall it.
