Postdoctoral position in Bioinformatics, Computational Genomics, Population Genetics, Genomic Medicine, and Biomedical and Healthcare Data Science
Description A postdoctoral position is available for eligible candidates with training in statistical genetics and computational genomics. Kullo laboratory focuses on genomic studies of cardiovascular traits and implementation of genomics into clinical practice. The approaches we use include genome and exome-wide association studies using high-density SNP array (common variants as well as rare variants), whole exome/genome sequencing in families with cardiovascular disease, pharmacogenomic profiling from NGS data, RNA sequencing, expression profiling and phenomics. Our laboratory is part of a large-scale translational genomics initiative, the eMERGE network (http://www.gwas.net) established by the National Human Genome Research Institute to enable the application of genomic medicine in a clinical setting. The candidate should be able to analyze data resulting from these approaches and have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent doctoral degree in biostatistics, statistics or statistical genetics. The candidate is expected to gain cross-disciplinary training in 'clinomics,' genomics, genetic epidemiology and bioinformatics.
Requirements: We are encouraging applicants with Ph.D. in bioinformatics, biomedical informatics, statistical genetics, biostatistics, or related disciplines to apply for the position. Applicants may have experience in one or more areas including machine learning, deep learning using biomedical and genomic data sets, population-scale genomic data analysis using statistical genetics software packages (PLINK, GenAbel, etc.Linux based), NGS data analysis tools (short-read aligners, GATK, annotation pipelines) and statistical analysis using R/SAS. Experience in programming (Java / C++), database management (MySQL) and a scripting language (Perl/Python) and deploying computational genomic Linux-based cluster environments (PBS, SGE or OGE) is desirable.
Mayo Clinic is an affirmative action/equal opportunity educator and employer.

PS. Kullo lab is a great place for those who are looking for a transition to genomic medicine. The lab is at the forefront of implementing precision medicine using genomics + phenomics. I was a visiting fellow and a post-doctoral fellow in this lab. Please let me know if you have any questions about the work, culture, and the city. Mayo Clinic is a great place to work and Rochester, MN is a small, global, lively city in the heart of midwest.
Dear Khader Shameer Sir, I am interested in PDF position. I have experience in R program.
