Determining gene by substrate/product

I have annotated my genome. Can I identify a gene responsible for degradation of a certain substrate and synthesis of a certain product. For example I want to know genes involved in amino-acid (Aspartate, Glutamate etc) degradation and synthesis. Some times it's very difficult to determine from it's annotation, like Aspartate-semialdehyde dehydrogenase, I can't figure out what are substrate and product of this gene/enzyme.

You will need to elaborate a bit more if you expect an answer to this question. For example, include how you annotated your genome, which genome you are studying, which substrate/product you are talking about.

Thank for your kind suggestion. I now added little more details in the post.

You can use BRENDA or ExploreEnz to get information about enzymes/substrates/products.
