Job Description

At the Finucane Lab, we develop and apply new statistical and computational methods for analyzing biological data, with a focus on combining large-scale human genetic data with cutting-edge molecular data to learn about the causes of diseases ranging from schizophrenia to diabetes to rheumatoid arthritis. We have collaborations with experimentalists, computer scientists, and disease experts in the Broad and neighboring institutions. We seek someone with a strong background in computer science or statistics, and with experience in data analysis, who will work with us to generate new biological insights by developing new approaches to analyzing these data.

Characteristic duties:

  • Contributing to the development of new methods
  • Applying existing statistical and computational methods to novel datasets
  • Developing and maintaining computational tools

Requirements:

  • Interest in improving human health via rigorous and creative data analysis
  • PhD in computer science, statistics, or a related field
  • Practical experience in data analysis
  • Knowledge of python, LSF or other job scheduler, and/or bioinformatics tools a plus
  • Experience with biological data, especially genetic data, a plus
