Hello,

I am trying to map ensembl identifiers to the reference genome GRCh 37. I am new to this and do not have much of an idea as to how I should proceed with this. Any help in this matter would be appreciated.

Maybe you should specify what kind of Ensembl Identifiers you have (genes, I assume, starting with ENSG00...). I am also not totally sure what is meant by 'mapping'; I assume that you are interested in the coordinates of the gene relative to the assembly.

Probably the easiest way is to use the biomart server http://www.ensembl.org/biomart/martview next, choose "ensemble genes" as the database and generate a report (e.g. a tab-delimited list) that shows you for each gene the coordinates. It should be easy to continue from there.

I think I was having problems finding the ENSG id as you said. I will use your suggestion and go from there. Thank you for your help.

It worked out just like you advised me to do. Thanks again.
