Hi everyone,
I am looking for a way to download all prokaryotic kegg genomes. I found a post that had a very detailed answer on how to do the same with RefSeq, but with KEGG, it is a bit difficult, as it integrates multiple sources.
Cheers!
Downloading all genomes without a KEGG subscription may violate their fair use policy. Something to consider.
Is it any different from downloading RefSeq and GenBank genomes? They link to those ftp's as sources.
While KEGG can be accessed for free bulk downloads require purchase of a license, even for academic users. See the legal disclaimer . They only get a part of their funding from government (a problem afflicting more and more databases as time goes on) and depending on the license revenue for continued operation.
