extracting the longest transcript in a fasta file

I have a fasta file like this example:

I m trying to take the longest transcript of each gene. here is the expected output:

do you know how I can do that? in fact in the ID line, I have the gene names in the 6th line and the length in the 7th line. and I want to get one repeat of each gene name based on the 7th column.

You have been given two links, with two solutions each. You mean all four solutions died, without returning any output?

You can sort the FASTA by sequence length using SEDA (http://www.sing-group.org/seda/manual/operations.html#sort) and then take the longest sequence(s).
