Meaning of Decimal points in ENST notation

Hello, I have been seeing many transcripts that look like ENST00000376701.4 and it matches an ENSG...15285.10

my question is, What is the significance of numbers coming after the decimal point? Can they be safely ignored? I ask because I am giving a list of transcripts without the decimals in another file, and none of the ENST in that file match the ENSG from Gencode.

What does the decimal ending of a transcript id mean?

You can pretty much ignore it. This is from the ensembl website:

For example ENSMUSG00000017167.6. From this we can see that it's an Ensembl ID (ENS), from mouse (MUS), it's a gene (G) and it's on its sixth version (.6).
